Live music for functions and corporate events

Birthdays, anniversaries, corporate gatherings and everything in between — live acoustic music from a solo performer based in Edinburgh, with PA and lighting included in every booking.

At a glance

  • PA and lighting included

PA equipment hire and lighting hire come with every booking, so there is nothing extra to source for sound.

  • Based in Edinburgh

A solo acoustic act: one supplier to brief, one person to let in, one point of contact from the enquiry to the night itself.

  • Insurance and PAT

Placeholder content starts: Public liability insurance and PAT-tested equipment. Placeholder content ends. See the certificate details.

Booking on behalf of a venue or a client? Everything below is the practical detail you will be asked for: what turns up, what it needs from the room, and the paperwork.

Events and functions reel — a few minutes of what it sounds like in a room.

What comes with the booking

The point of a solo act with his own kit is that there is one line on your supplier list instead of three.

  • Sound and lights

PA equipment hire and lighting hire are included with every booking. Nothing to hire in, and nothing extra to arrange with the venue for sound.

  • Set up and run by one person

A solo acoustic performer who brings, sets up and runs his own sound — so the brief goes to one person and stays there.

  • Music matched to the room

Volume and repertoire are normally matched to the room and the moment — background music through a drinks reception, a feature set when the room is listening.

Insurance and PAT testing

Most venues will want to see a supplier’s public liability insurance, and many ask for evidence that the electrical equipment has been PAT tested, before anything is plugged in. Both are below so you can put them in front of your venue without chasing.

Public liability insurance

Public liability insurance is held for live performance work. Insurer, level of cover and renewal date to be confirmed.

Portable appliance testing

PA, lighting and stage electrics are PAT tested. Date of the last test, who carried it out and the next due date to be confirmed. Copies of both certificates can be sent straight to your venue on request.

Getting a quote

There is no standing price list for functions and corporate work, and there is not much point in one: the length of the day, how many sets you need and when you need them move the number more than anything else. So it is quoted per event.

PA equipment hire and lighting hire are inside the quote, not on top of it — the figure you get back covers the sound as well as the music.

What to put in the enquiry

Enough to price it properly first time. If a detail is not settled yet, say so — a date and a venue that are still moving are not a problem.

  • The date, and roughly what time you want music.
  • The venue, and the room if you know it.
  • How long you need — one set, a couple of sets, or across the day.
  • Rough numbers, and whether it is background or a feature.
  • Anything the venue needs from a supplier in advance.

Questions event managers ask

If yours is not here, ask it in the enquiry and it gets answered before you commit to anything.

  • What kinds of events do you play?

PLACEHOLDER — awaiting Robbie's list. Drinks receptions, awards dinners, Christmas parties, product launches and staff events are all within scope.

  • Is PA and lighting included?

Yes — PA equipment hire and lighting hire are included with every booking, so venues and event managers have nothing extra to source for sound.

  • Can you play background music rather than a feature set?

    PlaceholderDraft answer — awaiting Robbie

PLACEHOLDER — needs confirming with Robbie. Volume and repertoire are normally matched to the room and the moment.

  • How does booking and invoicing work?

    PlaceholderDraft answer — awaiting Robbie

PLACEHOLDER — payment terms, deposit and invoicing process need confirming with Robbie. Event managers usually need this stated up front.

  • Do you hold public liability insurance and PAT certificates?

    PlaceholderDraft answer — awaiting Robbie

PLACEHOLDER — PLI and PAT certificate details need confirming with Robbie. Corporate venues request these more often than wedding venues do, so the real details belong here.
